Windows Licenses

Hostwinds offers several Windows licenses. When a client orders a Cloud VPS through Hostwinds, these servers are licensed by default with the Standard Version of the Windows license.

Dedicated Servers offer a selection of different versions of Windows to be installed and licensed. An additional fee is added to the pricing of the server based upon the Windows version selected.

Windows Server License Options

Hostwinds offerings for our Dedicated Server licenses are listed below:

Windows Server Standard Edition: Server 2008 R2, Server 2012 R2, Server 2016 R2

Windows Server Datacenter Edition: Server 2008 R2, Server 2012 R2, Server 2016 R2

The license option is selected while ordering a Dedicated Server from the checkout page.

The license selected is applied to the server shortly after installation.
