Learning Management Solution with Softaculous

What is a Learning Management Solution (LMS)? An LMS is a site that focuses on Education. This application is something that will manage the administrative, documentation, delivery, tracking, and reporting of educational materials, courses, training programs, or learning and development programs. This guide will cover what Softaculous offers for these solutions.

Softaculous is available through both our Shared Web Hosting and Business Hosting plans. Softaculous can also be added to our Cloud VPSs or Dedicated Servers. This requires a purchase of the license.

Where to Find the Learning Management Solutions in Softaculous

For Shared Hosting, access Softaculous from the cPanel home page. Enter 'Softaculous' in the cPanel search bar to show the available options. Next, click on the 'Softaculous Apps installer' to view all available options you can install. Clicking Educational as shown is a shortcut to the Learning Management Solutions offered by Softaculous.

Next, we will cover the different options available to install and any special actions that you may need to install them. Most of these sites require you to log in to them first so you can access the admin areas for each of these installations from the same login screen.

Chamilo

Chamilo is an e-learning system with a focus on getting started quickly. This way, you can start teaching or training in no time. Next, click on the Chamilo option, then click install. Below is the basic setup of the installation. Be sure you are setting the correct Installation URL for your site. Also, note that Chamilo utilizes a Cron, which must be set up. If you are not sure what it is for, allow it to use what is set by default. Requires PHP 7.1 or 7.2.

Once you have your set up configured how you would like, click on install. Next, once it has finished, you should navigate to the login page and log in as the admin user.

Moodle

Moodle is a web application that allows for the creation of online learning courses. To install Moodle, you would select it from the list then click install. Moodle sets up a private directory that is not visible to the web, which greatly helps with the security of your site. There is also a cron that will need to be set up as well. If you do not know how often you need the cron to run, leave it as it is. Requires PHP 7.1 or 7.2. Also, be sure you are setting the correct Installation URL for your site.

TCExam

Omeka

Omeka is easy to install and would only require you to update your installation directory, if anything at all. Can run on PHP 5.6, 7.0, 7.1, and 7.2. ATutor

Administrators can install or update ATutor in minutes, develop custom themes to give ATutor a new look, and easily extend its functionality with feature modules. Deprecated applications no longer have support. No further development is being performed on them. You do not want to use Deprecated Learning Management Solutions as they may have security vulnerabilities. Softaculous still offer these programs.
