Hostwinds offers several available application templates created with pre-configured software. cPanel/WHM is one of the many templates that we offer.

Select this option on the checkout page, and be sure also to purchase a cPanel license. cPanel/WHM licenses can be ordered during the checkout process.

We recommend at least 1 CPU Core, 2 GB of RAM, and 50 GB of disk space for a server to operate cPanel. However, higher traffic websites will require more resources.

Root access is provided for any Hostwinds Linux VPS so that you have complete control over your server and may configure it however you see fit.

Hostwinds believes in providing you with as many options as possible and allows you to customize your server right out of the box if you prefer. You may also get up and running with the Operating System installed for you.

While ordering your server, you can choose from an extensive library of Linux versions. Hostwinds also provides you with several one-click application installation options and ISOs in your Cloud Portal.

Hostwinds has built an incredibly easy-to-use Cloud Control Portal to make it faster and more convenient for you to manage your server.

Some of the features include: Hostwinds Cloud DNS, Firewall Management, adding and managing additional Volume storage, Snapshot creation, Load Balancers, the ability to upgrade/downgrade your Virtual Machine, IP Management, the ability to restore your server from a snapshot backup, Object Storage Management, server power management, a robust API, launching a VNC connection, and serial console.

You are more than welcome to upgrade your Linux VPS anytime you need more RAM, CPU Cores, Disk Space, or Bandwidth. You can upgrade using our predefined packages anytime through your Cloud Control Portal.

Once you have requested it, you will need to apply the upgrade and confirm that you wish to resize your disk to implement it. Although you can build your own server and add custom resources as needed, we suggest using a predefined package.

You can upload your own Linux-based ISO and create a server using the ISO of your choice. Hostwinds provides you with many ISOs with which you can deploy or re-install your server, including several versions of Linux, as well as troubleshooting ISOs.

We are constantly expanding the Linux options in our Cloud Portal to give our clients as many choices as possible.

Snapshot backups are built right into the Hostwinds Cloud Portal. You can easily take a snapshot of your server and then use that snapshot as a template to launch more servers. This is a huge time saver and allows you to configure your server exactly how you see fit. You only need to configure one server. You can then launch an unlimited number of servers from that one snapshot you create. These new servers are exact copies of the original server. They will, however, have their networking configuration automatically configured on the first boot. You can also use snapshots as a backup to recover a specific point in time from your server in the event of a catastrophic failure.

We do give you the option to add backups to your server when you place your order and once the server is ready for use.

We cannot overstate how important it is to have an excellent-working backup on hand. As such, we make it easy to add automated incremental backups for your server.

The backups are only $1 a month + $0.03 per GB, and we strongly urge you to add this service if you ever need to restore your server from a backup.
